After a long wait, the ban on the entry of international cruise ships into Spanish ports has finally been lifted. Thanks to the favourable evolution in the containment of the pandemic, it is allowing the progressive modification of the limitations that were established months ago with respect to cruise ships.
At present, trips have already been carried out with the established protocols, which have had favourable results and have proven their efficiency in protecting passengers, crew and destinations.
During the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), the president of Puertos del Estado, Francisco Toledo, announced that they were already implementing, in coordination with Foreign Health, the reinforcement of medical and nursing staff to control passengers at ports of arrival.
The news of the return of the cruise ships has been received with great joy because, as the president of the Union of Travel Agencies (UNAV), José Luis Méndez, commented, this opening of borders “is a shot in the arm for the entire Tourism Sector, not only for the agencies but also for carriers, guides, shops, taxis, monuments and a long etcetera”.
We at IST are very happy about this resumption of cruise activity and we continue to support the cruise industry by offering facilities to our clients and developing new and more advanced services that allow them to be as efficient as possible.
